Life Magazine - September 3rd 1937

Most Marx enthusiasts are familiar with this famous cover featuring Harpo. How many have read the article inside entitled 'Life Goes to a Party' taken at the home of George S. Kaufmann. Included are pictures of Harpo & Susan Marx, Kaufmann, Mr. & Mrs. Howard Deitz & Moss Hart.

Theatre Arts Monthly - October 1939

S. Dali + 3 Marxes, an article by Marie Seaton which contains reproductions of Dali's drawings of the Marxes - Harpo at the Harp, Groucho as the Shiva of Big Business etc. etc. A nice addition to this site.

Liberty Magazine - October 19th 1940

Among other period gems - More Love Affairs of Mussolini, for instance - is a short article by Groucho - 'How I Beat the Social Game'. Nice Cover.

This is a full reproduction of 'A Night in Casablanca' by D.L. Ames. This was published in England in 1946.It appears to be quite rare. The book, which is in paperback form is split into 11 chapters and the publication is liberally illustrated with posed publicity shots. Following on after the story is a short section of 'Facts About the Film' and then short biographies about the 3 Marxes and also Lisette Verea. These are all examples of pure press-release puffery.

'Loving Groucho Wrecked my Life' by Erin Fleming. Bizarre and mercifully short article. Movie Star was published in London UK and it claims this article is an 'exclusive'. They are, not to my knowledge, still in existence.

Filmfax #14 March/April 1989

Contains an article about the making of the pilot of 'Deputy Seraph' and how it came to be forgotten even by the Marxes until it turned up in a garage several years ago.

Filmfax #25 Feb/March 1991

Contains a lengthy article 'Night & Day with The Marx Brothers',an interview with Allan Jones, their co-star in A Night at the Opera and A Day at the Races.

The quality of the reproduction is slightly sub-standard as the magazine is printed on newsprint.

HELLO! Magazine #340 January 28th 1995

No Marx photos on the cover, alas, but inside a beautifully illustrated visit to the Home of Susan Marx, Harpo's widow. There are some excellent photos of her together with the adult Marx children.
